Three Integration Design Strategies to Help Ride the Waves of Change

My own thoughts on this year, and even this decade, can be summed up in a single word: Change. It was the rallying cry for our president, the driving force behind company collapses, mergers, and huge successes, and the one constant in our economic lives. Between cloud computing, the big data explosion, increasing emphasis on analytics, new technology platforms, and a whole lot of other technological shifts coming at us, I don’t have to be the amazing Kreskin to predict that the business landscape will change radically again this year. How fast companies adapt is the fundamental determining factor in whether they surf on the waves of change or get smashed by them.

At Planview, Louise Allen has taken on a huge challenge. The company is offering a Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) solution which competes with the largest companies in the industry—Microsoft, Oracle, HP, CA and SAP. Planview doesn’t only compete with these major players, its solutions have to interoperate with many of their applications and databases as well. Compounding these competitive challenges is the fact that Planview is also in the midst of migrating to a SaaS model, one of the toughest tasks for an established, independent software vendor (ISV).
